Update: Minor flooding on campus Thursday night
The rain storm caused some flooding at Bates residence Thursday evening. The water required that the hydro be turned off in the building along with Moulton Hall and Alumni House. About 30 students have been temporarily relocated to the Mary Keyes residence. Crews will be on the scene through the night to work on repairs.
Update: August 26, 12:15 p.m.
Power was restored at Bates Residence, Moulton Hall and Alumni House early Friday morning. The power had been shut off Thursday night after a broken pipe and the heavy rain storm caused flooding at Bates. The buildings all share the same power source. Crews worked throughout the night on the clean up.
A number of apartments in the lower level of Bates were impacted by the flooding. Repairs to these units will take one to two weeks. In the interim approximately 23 students who had been assigned to these units have been temporarily reassigned rooms within the residence system. Housing Services is working with all of these students to ensure they are kept updated as the repairs are made.
Residence move in scheduled for this weekend will continue as planned.
