Kin students biking across Canada in support of Special Olympics
Two McMaster Kinesiology students are riding across Canada, attempting to raise $10,000 in donations for the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.
Dawson Lucier and Trevor Rice learned of motionball, a not-for-profit organization that advocates and fundraises for the Special Olympics Canada Foundation, earlier this year. Only a few days later, the two had made up their minds to help the charity by cycling across Canada.
Beginning their journey on July 2, the duo has been using the TransCanada highway as their path across Canada.
They cycle about 100 kilometres a day, meeting up with Special Olympics representatives and athletes along the way, camping out in a new location every night and collecting donations.
The two friends have set up a Facebook account for those interested in following their journey. They will also host a story on McMaster’s snap chat account (McMaster_Snaps) on Monday, July 18 while riding through Calgary.
