Preventing and responding to sexual violence
McMaster places the highest priority on student safety and ensuring that our campus is welcoming, safe and inclusive for all members of our community. Sexual assault or harassment is not and will not be tolerated. We want to ensure that our students, faculty, and staff know where to go for help and are reassured that University policies are in place to help deal with sexual assault or any other type of assault or harassment on campus.
Sexual violence is a most serious issue and needs to be addressed on an ongoing basis. We encourage any member of the University community who has experienced sexual violence of any kind to access the support resources that are available to them on campus and in the Hamilton community. McMaster has counsellors and trained staff who are available to help support survivors. We also offer educational programs in which experts work with students and other groups to find new ways to promote prevention. Our policies address both sexual assault and the threat of sexual assault.
