New advisory group to focus on international activities
The newly formed International Strategy Advisory Group (ISAG) recently met for the first time, bringing bringing together individuals from across the University to connect on a range of issues related to global engagement.
A new pan-University initiative is underway that will oversee the coordination and planning of international activities at McMaster.
The newly formed International Strategy Advisory Group (ISAG) recently met for the first time, bringing together individuals from across the University to connect on a range of issues related to global engagement.
Chaired by Peter Mascher, Associate Vice-President (International), the meeting included discussion of current international initiatives, the challenges facing McMaster in the area of global engagement, as well as on establishing two new funds to support international research endeavours.
Mascher says this kind of forum is critical as McMaster continues to establish a comprehensive approach to all aspects of the University’s international activities.
“By coordinating our global activities as a University, we are now better positioned to address high-level, strategic questions and provide advice on emerging issues with an international component,” says Mascher. “Bringing this diversity of expertise together will help us to more effectively facilitate international opportunities for our students, support and advance our global research enterprise and incorporate global perspectives into all areas at McMaster.”
The creation of ISAG is part of broader structural and strategic changes around internationalization announced earlier this year and outlined in President Patrick Deane’s document, Global and Community Engagement at McMaster: Where FWI has brought us, and where we are going.
