MIIETL hosts Learning Technologies Symposium
Looking to enhance and expand the technological scope of your teaching and learning practice but uncertain on what digital footsteps to take next? With another term nearing completion, May is a good time to reflect on what has taken place in and out of the teaching spaces on campus and plan for upcoming classes. The Learning Technologies Symposium (LTS) is the perfect opportunity to share and generate ideas with your fellow faculty, staff and students on how to integrate technology into your learning strategies.
Organized by the McMaster Institute for Innovation & Excellence in Teaching and Learning (MIIETL), RIVET – the educational technologies division of the Program for Faculty Development in the Faculty of Health Sciences and Humanities Media and Computing (HMC), the LTS is a two-day event consisting of presentations, workshops and networking with your peers.
Online teaching strategies, blended learning approaches, classroom technologies, mobile delivery, creating accessible content, learning portfolios and best practices in Avenue to Learn, are examples of the dynamic sessions attendees can expect.
Dr. Joseph Kim will kick off day one of the LTS with an opening keynote on the lessons he has learned through his successful approach to blended learning in his Introductory Psychology course. Lightning rounds and 45-minute sessions with valuable takeaways fill out the remainder of the day.
Day 2 is a half-day of hands-on, interactive workshops including two streams delivered by Apple representatives highlighting the incorporation of iPads into curriculum through the use of authoring tools and educational apps.
The LTS will take place on campus during the days of May 12 & 13th. Registration is free and now open. A preliminary agenda can be found on the LTS website. and you can follow us on Twitter @McMasterLTS.
