Powering down for Earth Hour
Toward the end of March each year, Earth Hour brings together millions of people from around the world by collectively switching off lights for one designated hour.
On Saturday, March 29 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., McMaster will be participating in Earth Hour by turning off non-essential lights and equipment.
Members of the campus community are encouraged to take part, both on and off campus. Check out this year’s Earth Hour playbook for tips and suggestions to pass the time.
Please consider these safety tips during Earth Hour:
- In public buildings and residential complexes, keep sufficient lights on to illuminate the path to an exit
- Be cautious when using candles. Never leave the room when a candle is burning, and keep them away from drapes and curtains
- Place candles in a sturdy container that contains the flame
- Keep candles, lighters and matches away from children and pets.
