Religious Studies to host Distinguished Hooker Visiting Professor


On Tuesday, Oct. 22, the Department of Religious Studies will present a free public lecture from Distinguished Hooker Visiting Professor Raoul Birnbaum of the University of California.

Birnbaum will deliver a lecture entitled “What is a Buddhist Painting? Some Registers of Meaning in Chinese Buddhist Art” at 7:30 p.m in CIBC Hall (McMaster University Student Centre, third floor).

The visiting professor is a renowned scholar of Buddhist studies, and is also the Patricia and Rowland Rebele Endowed Chair in History of Art and Visual Culture at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
