Preeminent profs, top TAs honoured by students

McMaster’s top teachers were celebrated Thursday night at the Students Union’s annual Teaching Awards ceremony.

Faculty members and teaching assistants were recognized for their creative teaching methods and dedication to student learning at the event, held in Council Chambers.

The awards are based on student nominations, and are meant to recognize and encourage excellence in teaching.

This year’s winners were:

Lifetime Achievement Award – Nick Cipriano

Merit Award – Saiedeh Razavi

Arts & Science – Stefan Rodde

Commerce – Stephen Charko

Engineering – Greg Wohl

Health Sciences – Patangi Rangachari

Humanities – Joseph Argentino

Kinesiology – Andy Schmalz

Nursing – Kirsten Culver

Science – Pippa Lock

Social Sciences – Todd Alway

Teaching Assistant Merit Awards – Jason Jaskolka, Jake Nease, Sohail Mulla, Jessica Slomka

Pedagogical Innovation Awards – Chelsea Gabel, Felicia Vulcu
