Rainbow inducted into journal’s editorial academy
Andrew Rainbow, professor emeritus in biology, has been inducted into the The Editorial Academy of The International Journal of Oncology.
The August edition of the journal includes a brief resume of his many research and career achievements.
During his more than 40 years at McMaster, Rainbow has made significant contributions to cancer research. His lab has been supported by the National Cancer Institute of Canada with funds from the Canadian Cancer Society.
Rainbow pioneered the use of viruses as probes to study radiation-induced DNA damage and repair in human cells. His research objective is to understand the molecular mechanisms for DNA repair and their role in human cancer, as well as to improve protocols for radiation therapy and chemotherapy.
