Time:

  • Lecture (8 a.m. to 9 a.m.): In-person in Farncombe Atrium & virtual via Zoom
“What’s writing good for anyway? Existential questions about researchers’ thinking, ethos, and identity in the AI age”Instead of talking about what AI is good for, let’s talk about what writing is good for in our research worlds. Writing theory tells us that writing is how we think, how we judge ethos, and how we become scholars. With these purposes in mind, we’ll explore what happens when researchers use AI to write. What does it mean for accuracy, for integrity, and for equity? Along the way, we’ll confront three existential questions that demand our attention if we are to use the AI age as an opportunity to revolutionize scientific writing.
  • Workshop (9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.): In-person only. Farncombe Atrium“Using GenAI as a writing resource: A hands on workshop”

In this 3-hour workshop, participants will explore how they can effectively integrate GenAI into their writing process. With hands-on activities and shared prompts, participants will gain practical skills in customizing their AI interactions, tailoring and adjusting prompts, using incremental prompting to refine responses, and evaluating generated content.

    Learning Objectives
