Parking rates 

To support ongoing improvements to parking infrastructure and campus transportation services, McMaster Transportation Services will introduce a 3-per-cent parking rate increase for monthly permit holders effective May 1, 2025.

This adjustment reflects the rising cost of maintaining aging infrastructure — such as gate systems — and will help fund the introduction of new mechanical and technological upgrades across the parking system.

For instance, later this year, electric shuttle buses will replace the current buses as part of our efforts to enhance the campus transportation system and reduce the university’s carbon footprint.

There is also an expansion planned for EV charging stations, making it easier for electric vehicle owners to charge their cars on campus.

This rate change, following last year’s increase, is a necessary response to the changing economy and inflation.

McMaster Transportation Services acknowledges that any increase can be challenging and appreciates the continued understanding and support of the campus community as efforts continue to improve and modernize parking services.

Shuttle service 

In response to user feedback, the Campus Shuttle Bus is adding services: Effective May 1, shuttle buses will begin running to Les Prince Hall and will make an additional stop within Lot P.
