New GO bus extension connects McMaster with Six Nations of the Grand River, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation

The Route 15 extension will improve access to the university for students and community members, who previously needed their own transportation to get here.
Starting Saturday, April 5, students from Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation can use public transportation to get to campus.
GO Bus Route 15, which runs between Brantford and Burlington, is being extended to serve stops in both First Nations.
The new extension of Route 15 will run three trips a day in each direction — early morning, mid-morning and early evening — seven days a week.
This service will connect to key locations including the Brantford Bus Terminal, McMaster University, and the Lakeshore West GO Train service at Aldershot GO Station.
“This extension is a great start in removing the transportation barriers our students face,” said Chrissy Doolittle, Director of Indigenous Student Services. “It will positively impact their access to education and support their journey to and from the university.”
Previously, people coming from Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit had to rely on access to a vehicle to get to campus.
This extension marks the first time in the history of these communities that there is access to public transportation. This will provide an accessible and reliable option for students coming to McMaster.
New stops will be located at:
- Sour Springs Road @ Mohawk Road
- Sour Springs Road @ Chiefswood Road
- Six Nations Sports & Cultural Memorial Centre
- 50 Generations Drive (Oneida Business Park)
- New Credit Variety & Gas Bar
“McMaster is committed to continuing its collaboration with community partners to support the needs of Indigenous students. This new extension is a significant step towards a more inclusive and accessible educational environment,” said Saher Fazilat, Vice President Operations and Finance.
