McMaster marks the National Day of Remembrance of the Quebec City Mosque Attack and Action against Islamophobia
January 29 is the National Day of Remembrance of the Quebec City Mosque Attack and Action against Islamophobia.
On this day in 2017, six men were murdered and 19 others seriously wounded during prayers at the Islamic Cultural Centre of Quebec City.
In 2021, the Government of Canada proclaimed January 29 a national day of remembrance to honour the victims and to dispel Islamophobia.
In honour of this commemoration, McMaster’s main campus flags are lowered, and University Hall will be lit with green lights.
