McMaster ranked one of the world’s best universities for medical and health studies

McMaster continues to be recognized as one of the top institutions in the world for medical and health studies, as well as psychology.

Buoyed by robust industry partnerships, research and teaching, the university ranked 39th in the world and fourth in Canada in the medical and health category of the 2025 Times Higher Education World University Rankings by subject.

This year, more than 1,100 institutions were considered in the medical and health category, which includes medicine, dentistry, nursing and other health-care disciplines. McMaster has consistently ranked in the top 40 for the past 15 years.

McMaster also ranked 95th globally and fifth among Canada’s top research institutions for psychology, moving up 42 spots from last year.

The university ranked within the top 200 institutions in two other subject areas: 121st in life sciences and 179th in engineering.

Last year, McMaster ranked 30th in the world for global impact in the Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings and placed among the top 100 public universities in the world according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
