McMaster to host 2027 International Association for College Admissions Counselling conference
McMaster University has been selected to host one of the world’s largest gatherings of university admissions officers, high school guidance counsellors and independent education consultants.
The International Association for College Admissions Counselling (IACAC) conference, scheduled for July 2027, offers McMaster a unique platform to showcase its academic programs and commitment to student support.
“The teaching, learning, and research that happens at McMaster is centered on our students,” said Susan Tighe, provost and vice-president (Academic).
“Hosting the IACAC conference will strengthen our international presence and help us build relationships with educators and future students from around the globe.”
The IACAC conference plays an important role in shaping how students access and engage with post-secondary education opportunities.
In the past 30 years, only four Canadian universities — University of Toronto, University of British Columbia, University of Calgary, and Western University — have hosted the event.
Other host institutions include Duke University, Cornell University, Brown University, Northeastern University (2025), and Carnegie Mellon University (2026).
“We’re excited to bring this conference to McMaster,” said Matheus Grasselli, deputy provost.
“It will provide an opportunity for our university to connect with high school guidance counsellors who are essential partners in student recruitment and support. We want to create pathways for students that will help them thrive, both at McMaster and beyond.”
Grasselli added that he’s grateful to the central recruitment team at the Office of the Registrar for developing the successful bid in collaboration with Athletics and Recreation and Hospitality and Conference Services.
