Today marks the start of McMaster’s yearly campaign to welcome students to the community and encourage neighbourly interactions.  

Students moving to the Westdale and Ainslie Wood neighbourhoods as the school year begins have the chance to get to know the families, businesses and other students nearby. The Good Neighbour campaign encourages students to introduce themselves to their neighbours and take actions that will positively contribute to the neighbourhood.  

“McMaster has been situated in the heart of west Hamilton for more than 90 years, and students have always had an important role to play in making this neighbourhood a great place to live,” says Sean Van Koughnett, associate vice-president, students and learning, and dean of students.  

“Taking the initiative to say hello to those who live next door, learning how to properly compost and recycle, being conscientious about noise and respectful of property, and being kind are all ways that McMaster students can be good neighbours.”  

As part of the Good Neighbour campaign, the university is sharing messages with students both directly and through various digital, print and social media.
