New interim Chief Financial Officer announced
Lilian Scime has joined McMaster as Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for an expected six-month appointment.
Scime is a highly respected financial executive with over 34 years of experience in the healthcare and post-secondary sectors, including as McMaster’s former assistant vice-president, Administration from 2001-2010.
Scime’s most recent role was as vice-president, Diagnostic and Corporate Services at Halton Healthcare, where she was responsible for finance, decision support, information systems, environmental and food services, and diagnostic services. She has also completed executive assignments across the post-secondary and health care sectors.
During her time as assistant vice-president, Administration at McMaster,Scime was a valued and highly collaborative leader who developed and implemented strategies critical to McMaster’s growth and long-term financial sustainability. She was responsible for leading a team in finance, treasury, budgeting, finance systems, and procurement, fostering a culture of strategic planning, performance measurement, teamwork and employee engagement.
Scime will report to Saher Fazilat, vice-president, Operations and Finance, while providing interim oversight of the institutional financial plans and reporting, including the multi-year financial plan, the capital plan, the debt strategy and, in collaboration with other senior leaders, the operating budget.
During her time at McMaster, Scime will work with financial affairs staff to continue to foster a culture of collaboration, responsibility and accountability within reporting areas and lead an effective and productive work environment.
During this time and until the new AVP, Real Estate is in place, the vice-president, Operations and Finance, will continue to oversee Media Production Services, Hospitality Services and the Campus Store.
