Countdown to MacVIP begins

MacVIP is entering its second year and while the “terrible twos” may strike fear in the hearts of some, that's not the case for the team leading the conversion of McMaster's new payroll system. By July, it's expected that MacVIP will be used by more than 6,000 McMaster faculty and staff.

The implementation also includes a change to biweekly pay for all employees, with the exception of those paid through Graduate Studies Payroll.
After a successful phased launch to employees in Hospitality Services, Parking & Security and Graduate Studies (formerly known as Rolls 2, 4 and 5), MacVIP is gearing up for the next phase: a go-live date within the first two weeks of July. The first pay date will vary depending on employee group (details are available on the MacVIP website).
The change to biweekly pay will be bridged by offering employees an interest-free, repayable advance (last pay will have been June 15). The repayable advance will be repaid by the 2007 year-end to ensure there are no negative tax implications.
Employees will receive personalized forms for the advance beginning May 24. The forms must be signed, dated and returned to
MacVIP Payroll Conversion in T13 by June 4.
Good management requires a contingency plan to protect employees. As the launch date approaches, frequent checkpoints on the state of readiness will be made to ensure accurate and timely pay can be achieved. A final decision will be made in early June and communicated to all employees
