Campus abuzz over new pollinator garden

A new flower garden on campus is providing food and shelter for area pollinators.

Science students Katrina Cantera and Molly Bradford came up with the idea for the garden, which is located in front of the Life Sciences Building, facing University Avenue.

The pollinator garden is home to native plants that attract a wide range of pollinators, including bees, butterflies, bats and moths. The garden contains 12 different species of native plants, such as serviceberry shrubs, butterfly weed, milkweed, cardinal flower and goldenrod.

In addition to feeding local pollinators, the garden will also be used as a classroom where students can learn about the relationship between plants and pollinators.
