#MacVotes 2018: Candidates debate May 29 in MUSC, General Election June 7

MacVotes

On June 7, 2018 Ontarians will vote in the Provincial General Election. #MacVotes is an initiative by the McMaster Students Union to ensure that students have the tools and information they need to cast informed ballots.

Voting is an important and powerful function of democratic rights. Opinions of individuals and votes can and do matter. Post secondary students who are eligible to vote:

  • Canadian citizen
  • Over the age of 18
  • Residing in Ontario

It is important that students feel informed and ready to vote come June 7th. Take time to look over the information provided at msumcmaster.ca/macvotes. Read more about candidates and platforms. In addition, the MSU will host a candidates debate on May 29 at 2 p.m. in the Atrium of the McMaster University Student Centre. All members of the McMaster and/or Hamilton West – Ancaster – Dundas community are welcome to attend.

Candidates will give opening and closing statements and answer a series of student and community focused questions. There will be an opportunity for voters to meet with candidates in a one-on-one setting, should candidates’ schedules permit, following the formal debate.

If you would like to submit a question for the debate, please submit it to vped@msu.mcmaster.ca or join the facebook event and ask your question in the comments.
