Public event: What does the issue of food security look like in Hamilton?


What does the issue of food security look like in Hamilton, in other communities across Ontario, and on post-secondary campuses? What are the impacts and considerations when looking to address intersecting issues around food security?

Join the McMaster Community Poverty Initiative for FOOD (in)SECURITY to learn more about these important issues.

  • When: Thursday, March 9, 2017 | 1:30-3:30pm
  • Where: Moulton Hall (EMR), McMaster University Main Campus.

Speakers will discuss their perspectives, experiences and advocacy in relation to food security, talk about the work they do and share ideas on how students can take action and participate. During the event, attendees will also have an opportunity to meet with a variety of campus and community groups working in the area of food security.

Panel speakers include:

  • Mike Balkwill, Put Food in the Budget
  • Clare Wagner, Neighbour to Neighbour Community Food Centre
  • Frank Chen, McMaster Student
  • Emergency Outreach Program, Native Women’s Centre

This event will include a panel discussion, a question and answer session, and an information fair featuring various community and campus groups working in the area of food security.
