New Associate Director, Indigenous Services appointed


McMaster’s Student Affairs department is pleased to announce that James Knibb-Lamouche has accepted the role of Associate Director, Indigenous Services.

James arrives at McMaster with over twenty years of experience in Indigenous student services, research, teaching, and policy development.

He comes to us from University nuhelot’įne thaiyots’į nistameyimâkanak Blue Quills (UnBQ), where he was Director of Research.

Previous roles include Co-ordinator of the Indigenous Health Sciences Program at Blue Quills, Research Officer and Policy Advisor at the National Aboriginal Health Organization, Instructor at Grant MacEwan College, and Co-ordinator of the Four Directions Summer Research Program at Harvard Medical School.

James is a community builder and a highly respected Indigenous leader.

The Associate Director is not only the manager of Indigenous Services unit, but is a leader and a champion who will work collaboratively to increase McMaster’s profile as the university of choice for Indigenous learners.

James will be a member of the Indigenous Education Council (IEC), working with the Council to strengthen Indigenous governance and policy development on campus, and supports all aspects of the student experience and success of our indigenous learners. 

The Associate Director works with Indigenous Services Staff as a liaison between McMaster and Indigenous communities, organizations, and government.
