Mobile app needs name, logo

McMaster students will be able to better explore Hamilton with the help of a new mobile app.

The app features a virtual map of downtown Hamilton and encourages students to visit local restaurants, museums and shops. They can then leave comments and photos of the places they visit through the app.

“The application will keep young people in touch with the city,” says Gisela Oliveira, employment service coordinator with the Student Success Centre. “It’s an opportunity for students to educate other students about Hamilton’s hidden gems.”

The app – a partnership between McMaster, Mohawk College, Columbia International College and the City of Hamilton – still needs a name and a logo.

A contest, running until September 9, will award $250 in gift certificates for downtown businesses to the student with the best submission.

The app will be available for download during Welcome Week.
