Nick Bontis, associate professor of strategy at the DeGroote School of Business, has been named the winner of the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance (OUSA) Teaching Award.
Bontis was selected to represent McMaster in the provincial competition and was selected as the winner from all Ontario universities.
The official citation from OUSA said, "OUSA would like to recognize Dr. Nick Bontis for having made a significant contribution to teaching excellence and for facilitating a positive learning experience for Ontario students."
Bontis is known for his unflagging energy and his compelling classes. In 2007, he won three outstanding teaching awards simultaneously for the undergraduate program, the MBA program and the campus-wide President's Award for Excellence in Instruction.
Maclean's magazine has identified him as one of McMaster's most popular professors for six years in a row, and most recently he was one of 10 finalists competing in the third annual TVO Big Ideas Best Lecturer Competition.
