CBC forum features precarious-employment specialist Wayne Lewchuk

A CBC Radio town-hall discussion about the increasingly uncertain world of work is to feature Wayne Lewchuk from McMaster’s School of Labour Studies.

Lewchuk is one of four panelists for the event, called Just-In-Time Jobs, which is to be broadcast live (99.1 FM) from CBC Toronto’s Glenn Gould Studio from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

The discussion about the changing nature of employment — less security, fewer benefits and more part-time, contract and freelance work  — is to be hosted by Matt Galloway, with excerpts to be featured the following day on the station’s Metro Morning show.

Lewchuk is the co-director of a five-year joint university-community research program on Poverty and Employment Precarity in Southern Ontario.

PEPSO is a joint initiative of the School of Labour Studies and United Way Toronto.

Its first report, released in 2013, is frequently cited in coverage of the growing problem of insecure employment.
