McMaster University’s Equity and Inclusion Office Presents the H.E.A.R.T.
Workshop Series – Human Rights, Equity, Accessibility, Respect Toolkit (H.E.A.R.T.)

The H.E.A.R.T. workshops are free. Space is limited so registration is required. Complete at least three workshops for a Certificate of Attendance.

Human Rights Fundamentals:
An introduction to human rights legislation and policies.
Monday, November 13, 2017: 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. | MUSC: Room 318

An Introduction to the Duty to Accommodate:
Learn about the “duty to accommodate” in the classroom and workplace and about key terms such as “reasonable” and “undue hardship”.

Anti-Racism Workshop:
Increase your awareness of what racism is and familiarize yourself with concepts including cultural appropriation and “reverse racism”.

Challenging Islamophobia on Campus:
Islamophobia: What it is, what it looks like and how to challenge it on campus.

Accessibility 101:
Enhance your understanding of accessibility in the McMaster context and develop skills to advance accessibility on campus.

What’s In A Word: Insult or Inclusion?
Discuss how to build inclusion through the everyday use of words and phrases that focus on diversity.

Positive Space:
Increase your awareness about the lives and experiences of LGBTQ+ persons. Upon completion, you’ll receive a poster to signify your workshop completion.

Supporting Survivors of Sexual Violence:
Participants will learn how to respond to and support survivors of sexual violence on campus.
