The McMaster Women’s Choir will swap the stage for seats this weekend while they wait to hear if they’ve won an award from the National Competition for Canadian Amateur Choirs.

The choir is one of three finalists competing in the women’s choir category, along with the Ariose Women’s Choir of Edmonton and Ensemble Laude from Victoria.

The announcement will be made on CBC Radio 2 on June 28 during the “Choral Hour” program.

The competition called for four audio submissions from competing teams including one submission in French. A jury of Canadian choral experts selected finalists for each category.

The National Competition for Canadian Amateur Choirs is organized by Choral Canada and open to amateur choirs from across the country through eleven competing categories.

This is the first time that McMaster has been recognized in this competition.

The McMaster Women’s Choir is conducted by Dr. Rachel Rensink – Hoff, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Music.
