What you need to know to ace this year’s exams

So, you’re a bit tired, kind of stressed and haven’t seen your favourite show in a week.

Ah yes it’s that time of year again — exams, which run from April 12 to April 29.

This time of year can be a little overwhelming, but luckily there are lots of campus programs and resources designed to help you fight stress and conquer those exams.

Here’s a sampling of just a few of them:

Ace your multiple-choice exam

The Student Success Centre will offer a workshop called ‘A, B or All of the Above? How to Succeed on Multiple Choice Exams’ on April 15. The workshop will be hosted by Jennifer Meister, the Academic Skills Program Coordinator and will run from 10:30 a.m. – 11:20 a.m. Students can sign up in OSCARplus, and workshops appear on the event calendar.

Pancakes and wishes

The McMaster Alumni Association and the MSU will host a midnight pancake breakfast on Monday, April 11 at 11:45 p.m. in the MUSC Atrium. McMaster Alumni will also host an exam wishes campaign. Exam wishes will take place on April 13, 21, and 26 from 10am-1pm. Students must follow and tweet @McMasterAlumni with their wish for a snack or drink that will help them get through exams.

Open study space downtown

McMaster’s Centre for Continuing Education provides students with private study rooms, tables for group work, and Mac Wifi at One James North Street behind the Jackson Square. McMaster ID is required for access.

New videogames, old test and lots of free space

The Lyons New Media Centre will have open access to its gaming room for students to destress and relax. Students can book a gaming station or PC gaming using their MAC IDs.

Mills library also offers an archive of past exams form a range of courses.

Mills library along with all other libraries on campus will offer study spaces to help students prepare for exams.
