From transcript requests to class registration, the administrative details of student life at McMaster are set for a big change this month.

McMaster will implement the last portion of its new Mosaic student administration system with the March 23 launch of a new online Student Centre to replace MUGSI and SOLAR.

To help inform students of the upcoming changes, the Mosaic team is releasing a series of short, humorous videos that explain what’s changing. The Mosaic team recruited McMaster students and hired recent graduates to make the videos.

The first video, released last week, was framed as a break-up letter to SOLAR and introduced several of the new terms associated with the system. The video has been viewed more than 15,000 times and garnered more than 600 “likes” making it the most popular McMaster Facebook video of the year.

A new video, released today, highlights the new transcript capabilities of the system. This video introduces MUGSI and Mosaic as characters trying to help students on campus. Inspired by Apple’s “Get a Mac” campaign, the videos introduce new features in the Mosaic Student Centre.

“The videos introduce some of the upcoming changes in a fun way. The team wanted an informative and entertaining way to connect with students,” said Melissa Pool, University Registrar. Additional videos will be released in the coming weeks on the McMaster Facebook page and YouTube channel.
