In this brand new video series, the Daily News catches up with some of the student-athletes and coaches making their third Vanier Cup appearance with the McMaster Marauders.

Marshall Ferguson knows what it takes to persevere under pressure.

As a second-year quarterback in 2011, he was unexpectedly thrust into the spotlight for three games and played a key role in the team’s early-season success. He earned a Vanier Cup ring that same year behind starting QB Kyle Quinlan, and helped the team reach the national championship game the following season.

Throughout the 2014 campaign, Ferguson has emerged as the team’s undisputed leader, both on and off the field. In this video clip, the Kingston, Ont. native reminds his teammates to “close your eyes, soak it in and enjoy the moment and the atmosphere” as they prepare to battle for the national championship, and also reflects on a remarkable 10-year career with his teammate and close friend since high school, Ben O’Connor.

McMaster will play the University of Montreal on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 1 p.m. at Percival Molson Stadium for the 2014 Vanier Cup.
