When Marauder football training camp opens this week, head coach Greg Marshall will be happy to have two familiar faces report to camp.

Ryan Janzen will return to McMaster after spending the spring in the Hamilton Tiger-Cats training camp. Janzen red-shirted his first year at McMaster and has one year of CIAU eligibility left. Janzen was a First Team OUA All-Star in 1997 and 1998, and a Second Team All-Star in 1999. In the 1999 season, he set a new McMaster Marauder record as career receiving leader in yardage with an impressive 2,106 yards (surpassing former Marauder and current Ti-Cat Mike Morreale's previous record of 1,880 yards).

Mike Linton will return for his fifth year of eligibility as well. Linton was named a First Team OUA All-Star in 1999, averaging 19.9 yards per reception. Linton was second in receiving on the team to Janzen with 656 yards on 33 completions. Linton was also named a second team OUA All-Star in 1998.

“It is a nice surprise to have Mike and Ryan back this season. It will really bolster our core group at the wide receiver position,” says Marshall.”We will have three to four good receivers this season. Mike and Ryan have great chemistry with Ben (Chapdelaine) which is a huge bonus as well.”

Marauder training camp will open on Thursday, Aug. 24 with strength testing sessions taking place all day. The team will practice twice daily, at 9:15 a..m and 3:15 p.m., starting on Friday, Aug. 25.
