University Hall will be bathed in green light the week of May 2 to help raise awareness about mental health issues in Canada.

McMaster will join more than 40 other organizations in the Hamilton area in supporting the Canadian Mental Health Association’s 65th annual Mental Health Week.

Lit buildings in Hamilton include city hall, LIUNA Station, First Ontario Centre/Hamilton Place, Hamilton Police Service divisions and Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King.

Members of the public are invited to take pictures of or selfies with illuminated landmarks or dress in green – the colour for mental health – and post pictures or messages to social media using #GETLOUD.

The week is part of McMaster’s recognition of North American Occupational Safety and Health Week, which promotes health and safety in the workplace.

Activities include talks and lectures, a BBQ and the presentation of the McMaster Health and Safety Award of Excellence.
