McMaster will recognize the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women Tuesday with a series of events on campus.

The University will also recognize missing and murdered Indigenous women with the commemoration of a new plaque and white pine trees near L.R. Wilson Hall.

A poster display will be set up all day in the Indigenous Studies Program’s ceremonial space, also at Wilson Hall, and red dresses have been placed at various locations around campus as part of the national REDress campaign.

The campaign is meant to raise awareness about the gendered and racialized nature of violent crimes against Indigenous women.

The day also includes a men’s memorial walk across campus.

The events are organized by the Anti-Violence Network and the Indigenous Studies Program.
