Electronic health and safety tracking will come to McMaster this fall as part of the University’s new HR system.

As part of the new system, future health and safety training tracking (training summaries) will be managed through Mosaic. As well, online health and safety training will now be conducted through the University’s learning management system, Avenue to Learn.

Beginning October 20, employees, students and volunteers (persons of interest) will be able to self-register for health and safety training courses and track their status in the registered courses currently provided by EOHSS and the Faculty of Health Sciences Safety Office (FHS safety office). This training administration module allows managers and training coordinators to track or view employee health and safety training. The new self-service functionality will also allow individuals to view a record of training that they have completed and eliminates the need to request training records from the safety offices.

In addition, EOHSS and the FHS safety office online health and safety courses will now be offered through Avenue to Learn. Training courses will be automatically graded in Avenue to Learn and the result recorded in Mosaic. This eliminates the current practice of forwarding the test records to the safety offices for grading and recording. This new system opens many additional possibilities for health and safety training at McMaster.
