Light Up the Night to feature carnival, concert and talk by George Stroumboulopoulos

Light Up the Night

To celebrate the end of the academic year, the McMaster Alumni Association, the Student Success Centre and the McMaster Students Union have partnered once again to create a truly memorable experience. Thousands of bulbs will Light Up the Night at McMaster on April 8 commencing at 6 p.m. and culminating with a fireworks show scheduled for 10 p.m.

The second annual year-end block party will feature a Last Lecture by George Stroumboulopoulos, carnivalesque rides, games, food, and musical guests Yukon Blonde and DareNots.

Host of Hockey Night in Canada and Gemini-Award winning broadcasting personality, George Stroumboulopoulos will take the stage at 6 p.m. in Burridge Gym for the Last Lecture to talk about his own multi-faceted career while also addressing the celebratory theme of the night as McMaster students look toward the future with excitement and anticipation.

Outside, attendees can stroll the street under thousands of lights, ride the Gravitron, have fun with friends in the Tilt-a-Whril, and take in the view from the Ferris Wheel all while enjoying traditional festival food and playing midway games. In addition, Light Up the Night will boast a main stage, a side stage and a DJ booth.

Special musicals guests Yukon Blonde and DareNots will perform on the main stage, beginning at 8:45 p.m. and playing until the nights end.
