University librarian Jeff Trzeciak will remain at McMaster despite an earlier announcement that he was returning to the U.S. to take a job with the Ohio library system.

“In many ways I didn't want to leave McMaster,” said Trzeciak. “I heard from numerous people who wanted me to stay and when complications with the move to Ohio developed I realized it was time to rethink my initial decision.”

Provost Ilene Busch-Vishniac was surprised but very pleased that Trzeciak wanted to continue to lead the University's libraries.

“Libraries can be passive parts of a university or they can be dynamic places for students to learn and faculty to research. Under Jeff's leadership our libraries have evolved into modern and innovative learning places. Our goal was to see that evolution continue and Jeff's decision means that can happen without any disruption.”
