Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame welcomes two former Marauders
Bob Krouse (pictured) and David Hart will enter the Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame on Sept. 18. The Hall of Fame was conceived in 2007 as a way to celebrate and promote athletes, teams, coaches, officials and builders who have achieved the highest standards of excellence while representing Hamilton.
Football legend Bob Krouse and former McMaster athlete-of-the-year David Hart will be inducted into the Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame on Sept. 18.
Born and raised in Hamilton, Krouse was a feared linebacker with the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats from 1963-75, capturing four Grey Cup championships with the club before hanging up his cleats. He later served as president McMaster Men’s Alumni Association and as a member of the President’s Committee on Athletics, and coached the McMaster Marauders football team. A respected teacher, volunteer and community advocate in the Hamilton area, Krouse will be inducted into the Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame as an Athlete/Builder. He currently lives in Grimsby, Ont. and is married with three children.
Hart earned five OUAA championships with the dominant McMaster water polo team, and was named the University’s athlete-of-the-year in 1973. He competed on the Canadian water polo team during the 1972 and 1976 Olympic Games, and was hired as the team’s technical director following his second Olympic appearance. A highly-respected player and lifelong proponent of the sport, Hart’s extensive career includes 160 international matches as a player and more than 400 matches as a coach. He was inducted into the University’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992, and he will enter the Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame as an Athlete/Builder. Hart currently lives in Griffith, Ont. with his wife Francesse Kopczewski.

The first class of inductees in 2010 included McMaster alumni and accomplished athletes Russ Jackson (football) and Joanne Malar (swimming).
Other McMaster inductees include honorary degree recipient and basketball officiating legend Ron Foxcroft, multi-sport athlete Jack Pelech, sports medicine pioneer Dr. David Levy and former Marauders football coach and CFL great Bernie Custis.
