Grads return to celebrate Alumni Reunion Day

Every spring on Alumni Reunion Day, hundreds of alumni, friends, and family from around the world return to McMaster to reconnect with classmates and rediscover campus.

This year, the annual event will take place on Saturday, June 3 and will feature classes celebrating their 50th, 55th, 60th, 65th and 70th reunions. The Class of 1967, celebrating their 50th reunion, will explore campus during a number of dedicated events throughout the day, including a special planetarium show.

All reunion classes are invited to attend a special lecture on Saturday by Dr. Miriam Stewart ‘67: Changing Face of Canada: Contributions of McMaster Graduates. Dr. Stewart will be sharing inspiring stories of exemplary McMaster alumni from diverse disciplines and graduate years in support of the wellbeing of all people in Canada, from babies to baby boomers. Her lecture theme was chosen to honour the Canada 150 celebrations happening across the country in 2017. Her class of 1967 graduated during Canada’s centennial celebrations and she will reflect on how well-being has changed in that time.

A professor emeritus of the University of Alberta, Dr. Stewart is also a member of McMaster’s Alumni Gallery and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. She was the inaugural scientific director for the Canadian Institutes of Health Research institute focused on gender and health, and her research focuses on the social determinants of health.

This is the McMaster Alumni Association’s longest-standing program, previously called Grads’ Day and Alumni Weekend. Happy anniversary to the Classes of 1947, 1952, 1957, 1962 and 1967!
