Some of the brightest minds in the country are competing for the title of Canada’s Next Top Ad Exec.

Two DeGroote MBA students, Stacy Drohomyrecky and Martin Routledge, are vying to walk away with the title and the keys to their very own 2016 Chevrolet Spark.

This year’s lead partner, Chevrolet, asked students to develop a fully integrated marketing communications solution that increases the number of first-time new vehicle buyers who have Chevrolet in their top-two consideration set.

The teams have until February 22 to complete the next phase of the competition: a comprehensive marketing strategy report.

A diverse panel of more than 60 judges, culled from industry and academia, have already narrowed the field to the Top 25 competitors from ten business schools, including DeGroote.

If successful, the DeGroote team will face a high-powered panel of judges when the Top 10 present their ideas on March 29 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

For the past nine years, Top Ad Exec has aimed to provide undergraduate and MBA students with opportunities to apply their learning and receive industry critique on their work.

Overall, the program is in the midst of its biggest year yet, with 231 teams from 32 schools joining the competition.

In addition to being Canada’s deepest pool of next-generation marketing talent, Next Top Ad Exec teams are now eligible for exclusive job opportunities with companies such as GMCanadian TirePepsiCo and McDonald’s. Canadian Tire has also rewarded each team with $1,000 worth of gift cards.
