Gino Scapillati (centre), an alumnus from the Class of 1981, received the Wayne C. Fox Distinguished Alumni Award at Thursday's Accolades gala. Scapillati is vice-chair of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP Canada, and a member of the global governance board of the vast PwC professional-services network.

The DeGroote School of Business looked to the past and the future at Thursday’s Evening of Accolades event in Toronto.

Alumnus Gino Scapillati was honoured as the 2015 recipient of the Wayne C. Fox Distinguished Alumni Award, presented each year to a graduate of the DeGroote School of Business whose personal accomplishments, reputation and character have by association enhanced the reputation of McMaster.

Dean Leonard Waverman used the occasion to unveil new branding for the business school that reflects the new mission, vision, and values that were unanimously approved by faculty in December as part of a new strategic plan to guide the school through 2020.

A new tagline “Education with Purpose” was developed in collaboration with business students and alumni, and was formally launched at the Accolades event.

“Our value and responsibility to business and society is to foster new knowledge that is significant today and tomorrow,” says Waverman. “While we instill a sense of purpose in our graduates, we also have a collective purpose to help transform business and society.”

The new branding was launched with the release of a short video underscoring the Education with Purpose message and a series of digital and print ads that will appear throughout Toronto’s downtown core for the month of May.
