McMaster’s Alex Sévigny, APR, has been recognized by the Canadian Public Relations Society’s Hamilton branch for his dedication to the profession of public relations and communications management.

The associate professor of Communication Studies and Multimedia and Director of the McMaster-Syracuse Master of Communications Management Program was named this year’s recipient of the Bill Cockman Memorial Award of Excellence in PR.

The award was presented at the group’s annual general meeting and special awards night.

Sévigny, who also co-founded and serves as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Professional Communication, has long served with the Canadian Public Relations Society, including on its national board and national education council.

He has also been co-president of the Hamilton chapter and served as chair of the group’s professional development committee.

“I’m so humbled and happy to be recognized by our wonderful community of practice,” says Sévigny. “I’ve made so many life-long friends and grown so much through my involvement with CPRS Hamilton.”
