Business
celebrated the 20th anniversary of the opening of its current home on
campus Friday.

The school, founded in 1952, was renamed in honour of Canadian entrepreneur and
philanthropist Michael G. DeGroote in January of 1992.

With his support, it became the first named business school in Ontario.

The building, which opened April 13 1992, was the first on campus to be built with an
atrium. It was completed in just 15 months – on time and on budget.

As part of its celebrations, the school hosted a reception Friday which recognized
the achievements of faculty and staff. Honours handed out included the Research
Excellence Awards and the first Gary Waterfield Staff Award.
