McMaster is hosting a one-day Advanced Manufacturing Summit Monday.

The conference, in co-operation with the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, will help identify important needs and emerging areas of interest that can benefit from recent developments in advanced manufacturing.

The summit has brought together thought leaders from business, government and academia.

Keynote speakers include Robert Hardt, president and CEO of Siemens Canada, and Gary Goodyear, Minister of State responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.

Panel discussion topics included the power of partnerships, emerging technologies, the supply chain, the impact of trade agreements on manufacturing and how to reduce the risk of innovation.

At the summit, Goodyear announced that FedDev Ontario is partnering with the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters to help the region’s manufacturers adopt advanced technologies, enhance productivity and expand competitiveness.

The Minister announced up to $20M for the CME to deliver a new program called SMART Advanced Technologies for Global Growth.
