anniversary banners have been installed along either side of the campus road.

The banners are part of campus-wide recognition of the University's 125th year. One
features the 125th anniversary logo in white against a maroon and yellow background,
while the other features a likeness of University founder Senator William McMaster
against a white background, on which is written, “Celebrating 125 Years”.

Anniversary festivities kicked-off April 23, or Founder's Day – the day on which, in
1887, the bill uniting Woodstock College and Toronto Baptist College into the new
McMaster University received royal assent.

To celebrate, the Alumni Association buried a time capsule filled with McMaster
memorabilia and hosted a gathering in the Student Centre.

All staff and faculty have also been sent a commemorative poster, which features a
collage of campus images: the University's original building in Toronto, figures from the
poster campaign used during McMaster's move to Hamilton, William McMaster and the
atrium of the Michael G. DeGroote Centre for Learning and Discovery.
