There are just 100 days and counting until the country’s football fans come to Hamilton for the 2016 Vanier Cup. Canada’s university football championship will be decided at Tim Horton’s Field on Nov. 26.

With the game fast approaching, the organizers kicked off ticket sales with a launch at the stadium that included an appearance by the Cup itself. Federal and municipal leaders, CIS chief executive Graham Brown and McMaster’s athletic director Glen Grunwald all took part.

“McMaster is thrilled to be part of bringing the national championship back to Hamilton,” Grunwald said. “We are hoping our Marauders will be busy on game day as participants in the championship, and know that football-mad Hamilton is a perfect location for this national showcase.”

The CIS is responsible for organizing and staging the game and the week of activities leading up to kick off. McMaster and many other community organizations are proud supporters of the event and are involved in assisting CIS in staging the national showcase.

The Marauders kick off their OUA regular season with a game at Ron Joyce Stadium against Carleton on Sunday Aug. 28 at 7 pm. On Labour Day, the Marauders will host the visiting University of Toronto Varsity Blues at Tim Hortons Field for the opening game of Football Day in Hamilton that will also include the classic Tiger-Cats/Argos matchup later in the day.
